Classic Trends - July 09, 2021

2021: The year that the Ford Bronco was resurrected. The Bronco is back with a similar body shape and name, but all new features. Ford had ceased production of the legendary Bronco in 1997.

Why was the Bronco discontinued?

Many thought it was cut due to the publicity it had received after OJ Simpson’s car chase. Ford has denied those claims stating it was actually that the market wasn’t as strong for two-door SUVs. The car manufacturer decided to release the Expedition: a roomier, four-door SUV. In order to make way for the new Expedition, the Bronco was cut from the lineup.

Even though the Bronco was on a hiatus for those 25 years, it never lost its appeal. Few cars are as much of a household name as the Ford Bronco. From their iconic beginning in 1965, they were considered stylish, charming, and powerful. The Broncos are known for their for off-roading ability that rivals Jeep. The new Bronco was brought back not only to appease Broncos fans worldwide but also so Ford can continue to compete against Jeep’s capabilities.

A pause in production

After the announcement that Ford was resurrecting the Bronco, they were faced with a supply chain issue that causing problems for car manufacturers all over the world. There is actually a car shortage happening in the US right now as COVID halted the making of new cars and used cars became much more valuable. The Bronco had some setbacks because of a shortage of semiconductors and hardtops. Both of these elements have been making it more difficult for Bronco fans to get their hands on a 2021 model. If you do decide to make that purchase, the base price is starting at $28,500 and can quickly jump when you see all of the available upgrades.
